Ibyiwacu Cultural Village / Gorilla Guardian’s Village Tour

ibyiwacu cultural village

Ibyiwacu Cultural Village, located near Volcanoes National Park, is known as the Gorilla Guardians Village. It offers unique Rwandan cultural experiences such as traditional singing and dancing, visits with traditional healers, homestays, and a glimpse into Rwandan history with a replica of the King’s Palace at the foothills of the Sabyinyo Volcano.

Here, you will hear the inspiring story of Edwin Sebuhoro, a young conservationist from the community. He convinced former poachers to lay down their tools and reform, transforming them into Gorilla Guardians who now protect the endangered Mountain Gorillas.

The communities at Ibyiwacu Village showcase their preserved culture through ancient hunting skills, traditional dancing, basket weaving, banana beer making, cooking classes, and Rwandan traditional kingdom customs.
