Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali


Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide-driver. Prepare to be impressed by Rwanda, famously known as the "land of a thousand hills." You will then be transferred to your accommodation, where you will enjoy dinner.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Evening Game Drive


Travel to the stunning Akagera National Park, enjoying spectacular scenery along the way. Your vehicle may stop for photo opportunities at any time. Arrive in time for lunch and check into your lodge. After lunch, embark on an evening game drive to see animals such as zebras, elephants, and impalas. Don’t forget your camera to capture these unforgettable moments. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise


Start early with a morning game drive to the northern part of the park to observe animals active at dawn, including lions, giraffes, bushbucks, antelopes, and zebras. Return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, various bird species, and other wildlife from a distance. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

 

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

 

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking


After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before trekking to see the golden monkeys. Along the way, you will encounter other primates, wildlife, and plants. Watch the playful golden monkeys as they hop from branch to branch—an incredible experience perfect for photography. After lunch, visit the Karisoke Research Center and the grave of Dian Fossey, the American primatologist who dedicated her life to protecting mountain gorillas and was laid to rest beside Digit, one of the gorillas she loved.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park


Prepare for an unforgettable encounter with mountain gorillas today. Gorilla tracking times vary and can take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours or more. Be ready for a challenging hike through steep, muddy terrain, possibly in the rain, before locating the gorillas.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Kivu

Day 8: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

Day 9: Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Day 10: Transfer to Kigali with Stopovers at Nyanza King’s Palace and Butare Museum
