Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kasese

After a hearty breakfast in Entebbe, set off on a scenic drive to Kasese, the gateway to the Rwenzori Mountains. Relax and prepare for the adventure ahead at the basecamp, your cozy retreat nestled close to the hiking trails.

Day 2: Trek to Sine Camp (2,596m)

Your Rwenzori adventure begins with a steady climb through the Afro-montane forest. Enjoy the lively company of blue monkeys and, if lucky, spot troupes of black-and-white colobus monkeys swinging above. The trail unfolds amid rare plant species and the melodic calls of wild chimpanzees in the distance. Close to Sine Camp, the stunning Enock’s Falls offers a perfect photo opportunity. Expect a challenging but rewarding 9.5km hike with a height gain of 1,146m over 6 to 7 hours.

Day 3: Trek to Mutinda Camp (3,588m)

Continue upwards through bamboo and heather zones, crossing mossy waterfalls and encountering unique flora like giant heather trees adorned with hanging Usnea lichen. Mutinda Camp sits serenely near a river and waterfall, offering an afternoon option to summit Mutinda Lookout at 3,975m for panoramic views. This 6.1km trek involves a 992m ascent and takes 5 to 7 hours.

Day 4: Trek to Bugata Camp (4,100m)

Navigate boggy terrain interspersed with tussock grass and giant lobelias as you cross the Mutinda Valley. The Namusangi Valley rewards you with dramatic waterfalls and vistas of Mutinda Peaks. Bugata Camp, perched high above Bugata Lake, offers stunning views towards Lake Kopello and beyond. Enjoy solar-lit facilities and warm water for washing after this 8.6km hike with a 474m ascent, lasting 4 to 6 hours.

Day 5: Summit Weismann’s Peak (4,620m) and Descend to Kiharo Camp (3,460m)

Begin early with a steep but exhilarating climb to Weismann’s Peak, one of the Rwenzori’s highest points, rewarded by sweeping views of surrounding peaks and glacial valleys. The final ascent may require ropes for safety when icy. Descend through the Nyamwamba Valley’s unique microenvironment, rich in giant groundsels and evergreen plants, to Kiharo Camp. This full day covers about 9km with a 520m ascent and a 1,190m descent, taking roughly 7 to 9 hours.

Day 6: Descend to Basecamp via Nyamwamba Valley

Enjoy a mostly downhill trek through one of the most beautiful valleys in the Rwenzoris, featuring moss-covered rocks, cascading waterfalls, and abundant wildlife including duikers and hyrax. The path includes a scenic lunch spot at Riverside Rock Shelter. End your trek back at the basecamp, where you can celebrate with fellow hikers and receive your certificates. This 16km descent takes about 7 to 8 hours.

Day 7: Rest and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After leaving the mountains behind, travel to the wild heart of Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park. Located between Lakes Edward and George, this park is a wildlife haven known for abundant hippos, elephants, lions, and elusive leopards. Overnight at Elephant Hab, immersing in the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 8: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Rise early for a thrilling game drive to spot lions, hyenas, buffaloes, and other predators as they retreat at dawn. After lunch, embark on a boat trip along Kazinga Channel, where hippos wallow and elephants bathe alongside crocodiles and diverse birdlife. Another night at Elephant Hab allows you to reflect on the day’s wildlife wonders.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Evening Game Drive

Travel to Lake Mburo National Park, arriving in time to settle into your lodge and enjoy lunch. Later, set out on a scenic evening game drive through acacia-dotted landscapes to see zebras, giraffes, impalas, baboons, and more. The park's intimate setting offers excellent wildlife viewing in a peaceful environment. Overnight at Rwakobo Rock.

Day 10: Return to Entebbe via Equator Crossing

On your way back to Entebbe, stop at Kayabwe, the famous Equator crossing point, for souvenir shopping and lunch. It’s a fun photo opportunity to straddle the Equator line and learn about local customs. Arrive in Entebbe in the afternoon, ready for your onward journey or flight home.
