Day 1: Arrival into Uganda

Welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival, relax and prepare for the journey ahead, soaking in the warmth of this vibrant country.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Today, you’ll travel through the charming town of Fort Portal, enjoying lush, rolling hills and views of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains. Kibale Forest is famed for having Africa’s highest number of primate species, including chimpanzees, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, and red colobus monkeys. Overnight at Turaco TreeTop or Isunga Lodge, nestled amid the treetops.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Get ready for an immersive primate adventure, tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Along the way, spot other primates like olive baboons and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Bird enthusiasts will delight in sightings of the Great Blue Turaco, and with luck, you might glimpse elusive forest elephants. Spend a relaxing afternoon at your lodge overlooking the vibrant forest.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Journey to Uganda’s second-largest park, located at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains and bordered by Lakes Edward and George. Expect to see abundant wildlife including gazelles, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and waterbucks. Lions are often spotted near the park entrance, and keep an eye out for hippos, elephants, and the occasional lounging leopard. Overnight at Elephant Hab, Adverk Lodge, or Mweya Lodge.

Day 5: Early Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Cruise

Before dawn, embark on a game drive to catch predators and nocturnal animals as they retreat. Spot elephants, buffalo, jackals, hyenas, lions, and more. Later, enjoy a boat trip along Kazinga Channel, witnessing vast hippo pods, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants bathing, and a variety of bird species—a highlight of your safari.

Day 6: More Wildlife Viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Spend another day exploring the park's diverse ecosystems and wildlife. The Kazinga Channel boat cruise offers exceptional photo opportunities of animals gathering at the water’s edge. Overnight stays remain at Elephant Hab, Adverk Lodge, or Mweya Lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Travel through the scenic Gorilla Highlands, passing banana and coffee plantations with breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes. Arrive at Lake Mutanda Resort or Icumbi Lodge, where tranquility and stunning landscapes await after a 5-7 hour drive.

Day 8: Rest and Relaxation

Take a well-earned break to enjoy your lodge’s serene surroundings. This is a perfect day to unwind, soak in the views, or explore nearby trails at a gentle pace.

Day 9: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

Prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to about half of the world’s remaining population. The trek may last 2 to 5 hours, guided by expert trackers. After a briefing on how to respectfully observe these majestic giants, enjoy an intimate wildlife experience that will leave you awe-inspired.

Day 10: Sabyinyo Volcano Hiking Adventure

Challenge yourself with a hike up the extinct Sabyinyo Volcano, climbing its three peaks amidst muddy trails and wooden ladders. Weather permitting, enjoy panoramic views spanning Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo—an unforgettable vista for avid adventurers. Return to your lodge at Lake Mutanda or Ichumbi for a restful evening.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Head to Lake Bunyonyi, known as the ‘Place of Little Birds,’ near the Rwanda border. This deep, bilharzia-free lake offers safe swimming, canoeing, and peaceful island retreats. Enjoy birdwatching among papyrus swamps and eucalyptus groves, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. Overnight at BirdNest or Arcadia Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 12: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, journey to Lake Mburo National Park, with a lunch stop in Mbarara town. Check into your lodge and enjoy an afternoon boat ride and nature walk in the scenic Rwonyo area. Overnight at Rwakobo Rock Lodge.

Day 13: Game Drive at Lake Mburo

Rise early for a game drive to spot predators like hyenas and leopards, along with zebras, impalas, topis, and elands. After the drive, return to your lodge for a leisurely late breakfast and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Overnight again at Rwakobo Rock.

Day 14: Transfer to Entebbe via the Equator

Travel back to Entebbe, stopping at the Equator line for fun photo opportunities and souvenir shopping. This is a great moment to reflect on your incredible journey through Uganda’s wilderness. Estimated drive time is 4-5 hours.

Day 15: Morning Shoebill Tour and Departure

Start your final day with a boat trip to Mabamba Swamp to spot the elusive shoebill stork, a rare and fascinating bird. After your tour, return for breakfast before transferring to Entebbe Airport for your onward flight.

This comprehensive safari includes accommodation in double or twin cottages, all meals, English-speaking guides, private 4WD vehicle with fuel, permits for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, national park fees, boat trips, bottled water, and Mabamba fees.
