Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Your adventure begins with a transfer to Kibale Forest, a vast protected rainforest known for hosting Africa's highest diversity of primates, including chimpanzees, Grey Cheeked Mangabeys, Red Tailed monkeys, and Red Colobus monkeys. In the late afternoon, immerse yourself in the serene Bigodi Swamp walk, a 2-3 hour journey through grasslands and local villages. Spend the night at the cozy Turaco Treetops Lodge or ChimpNest, surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

Rise early for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest, home to at least 12 primate species. Watch the playful chimpanzees in their natural environment and keep an eye out for other fascinating residents like the Red Tailed Monkey, Olive Baboon, Black and White Colobus Monkey, and the striking Blue Monkey. Bird lovers will appreciate sightings of the vibrant Great Blue Turaco. After a day immersed in nature, return to Turaco Treetops Lodge or ChimpNest for a restful evening.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Evening Game Drive

Travel onward to Uganda’s second-largest park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, nestled at the foot of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains and bordered by Lakes Edward and George. After settling in, embark on an evening game drive where you can spot diverse wildlife such as gazelles, Uganda kob, warthogs, and waterbucks. Lions are frequently seen near the park’s entrance, and you may catch glimpses of elephants, hippos, or even a leopard basking in the sun. After dinner, prepare for the next day’s adventures.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Enjoy a morning game drive to further explore the park’s rich wildlife. Later, take a relaxing boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, arguably one of the highlights of your trip. This waterway is famous for its huge pods of hippos, often more than you can imagine, and visitors can also see buffalo, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and a splendid array of bird species. Return to your comfortable accommodation at Bush Lodge for the night.

Day 5: Scenic Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with scenic stops at Katinda and the Mirambi Crater Lakes. The drive treats you to lush green tea and banana plantations, rolling Kigezi highlands, and distant views of the Virunga volcanoes—an awe-inspiring backdrop that sets the tone for your gorilla encounter.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Prepare for an early start and a truly unforgettable experience: tracking mountain gorillas in Bwindi, one of the only forests in Africa to shelter both gorillas and chimpanzees. Expect to see not only these magnificent primates but also five other primate species, over 100 mammal species, hundreds of butterflies, and more than 350 birds. Though the forest may also reveal some snakes, the highlight remains the intimate encounter with the gentle giants of the forest. Spend the night at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge or Rushaga Gorilla Lodge, nestled close to nature.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Evening Safari

Drive to Lake Mburo National Park, stopping for lunch at the cultural Igongo Museum to absorb local heritage. After checking in, embark on a game safari where you’ll encounter zebras, giraffes, topis, buffaloes, warthogs, and numerous antelope species. As night falls, join a night drive to spot elusive nocturnal animals such as leopards, bush babies, and hyenas, adding a thrilling dimension to your safari experience. Overnight at Rwakobo Rock Lodge.

Day 8: Morning Nature Walk and Return to Entebbe

Start your day with a peaceful nature walk to see giraffes, warthogs, baboons, zebras, buffaloes, and more in their natural environment. After breakfast, begin your journey back to Entebbe, stopping at the Equator for fun photo opportunities and last-minute souvenir shopping—a perfect conclusion to your East African adventure.
